I have not been able to do justice to the colour which is a rich green without the blue tone added by the camera. Hand blown is an odd term, but these beads were each individually blown and then twisted in some you can see tiny bubbles the breath of that master glass blower working in a glass house in Murano. The heat must have been intense with the furnaces stoked up to full power.
The beads are in two different sizes with the smaller ones in the upper tier so that the necklace naturally gains in width as the bottom tier is strung with the larger ones. Separating and strung along with the beads is a middle tier of metallic golden spheres and if you zoom in you can see the hand knotting. What an artefact of its time. The necklace fastens with a secure easy to use push in clasp decorated in a floral filigree pattern on the upper side. I have had a Murano Scottish Agate Glass bead necklace with this clasp so i know the necklace is Italian in origin and not Czech. It is difficult because the Czechs went to Italy after WW1 to study the Venetian output and took many techniques back to Czechoslovakia with them. The wearing length is app 17 and the depth app 21 mm. The larger beads are app 13 mm long.
Mild tarnish to one edge of the clasp and some of the golden spheres by the knotting which does not show imo and there is a difference in the colour of the stringing at one end (image 6) if it is a repair of some kind then it is a professional one, but it could just as easily be from the time of manufacture and mentioned for accuracy. A magnificent piece for any collection and one i would dearly love to keep. Most pieces are now also listed elsewhere so first come first served. Any boxes, mannequins or fabrics are for display only.
