VINTAGE ITALIAN MURANO ART GLASS VASE SCAVO ROMAN STYLE 1950s

Vintage mid-century, 1950s Hand blown Scavo-Type Vase with small handle. One of the handles have been stuck back to the base shown in last picture. Handles are not broken glass is in perfect condition. It's a glass finishing technique used during manufacturing to make the surface look ancient, as if it were weathered or buried for a long period of time and excavated from an archaeological site.

During the finishing process, a corrosive chemical is used on the surface of the glass piece to dissolve part of the finish to give it an etched, frosted or corroded look. This glass usually has an iron oxide finish. Note: This vase is not ancient.
