Stunning HUGE 8 Vintage Murano V Nason label sommerso glass snail 1950-60 HEAVY

Stunning very large vintage Murano glass sculpture of a beautiful sommerso glass snail still carrying its (rather tatty) original paper foil label from V. Dating it to the 1950-60's I believe (subsequently the label was clear plastic).

Really large piece: 8 inches long approx and about 5 inches high and extremely heavy. Beautifully made and detailed with heavy coiled shell, ridged base and delicate face/head. Gorgeous colour and particularly large size makes a really good display with real impact. Founded in the thirties by Vincenzo Nason, heir of one of the most ancient families of Murano, the glassworks has established itself in the period of greatest artistic splendor of the island with a brand that became well known in Italy and also abroad. It had always been run by family members.

In its moment of maximum expansion, until 2000 the company had about 80 employees and was one of the largest on the island of Murano. In 2004 Nason & C.
